Every year around Mother’s Day, the Social Security Administration (SSA) releases a major report on the top 1,000 baby names for newborns in 2024. And, unsurprisingly, the most sought-after information is the most popular baby names for boys and girls in the United States. These are generally dominated by classic baby names with incredible staying power, names that have been stuck in the top 10 for decades. But every few years a new name appears, reminding us that name trends are forever shifting and changing.

While many parents choose to follow name trends, from plaintive nature names to cool baby names with an innocent vibe, these rankings show that timeless, classic names are still what most parents choose. So without further ado, here are the most popular baby names for boys and girls in 2024.

This means that in order to shuffle into the top 10, a huge number of new little Teos have had to be born.
