He also acknowledged that he himself has struggled before, especially when he worked as an air ambulance pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) between March 2015 and July 2017. However, as well as talking about the mental “toolbox” he uses to help his own mental health, William also spoke about how he sometimes finds it difficult when his three children Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven, talk about their feelings.
While he said he loves hearing about how the royal children feel, he also revealed that he finds it difficult as he feels that he needs to fix things for them.
When asked if George, Charlotte, and Louis, William joked: “Yes, sometimes too much. I get all the details, which I love. It’s amazing. Being able to understand it, have time with it, decipher it.”
The future King then added: “You feel a sense you need to fix it for everyone, and that I find quite difficult.
“I have to remind myself – you don’t need to fix everything, but you do need to listen, and it’s important to be okay with those feelings and those comments.”
Last year, William revealed in an interview to a Brazilian news channel: “Every family goes through difficult times and faces challenges together. How you deal with those moments makes all the difference.
“We decided to tell our children everything, both the good news and the bad. We explain to them why certain things happen and why they might feel upset.
“Many questions might come up without answers – I think all parents go through that. There’s no rulebook for being a parent, and we chose to talk about everything.”
