A while back I shared a video about how if you notice something good about someone, it’s okay to say it. say it out loud. What happened to the art of compliments? Are you worried that you’ll seem weird or disgusted? Since when did we stop letting people know that we’re interested in what they say, what they do, what they wear, the way their hair looks, etc.? If you’re worried about going too far, rest assured with this thread we found: people I love being praised.

In the thread, one user asked his followers to share a memorable compliment – one they’ll never forget. Hundreds of people answered questions, creating one of the healthiest threads of all time.

The OP of this post, @mariostokez, wrote, “A few years ago, I was shopping with my mom and a woman came up to us with her daughter (she was about my age and looked a little older) and said my eyelashes were so much more beautiful than any other woman’s real or fake eyelashes. Then she walked away and my daughter was being mean and robbing me .”

Some of our favorites are listed below.

“Your laughter is like a sound bath of sunshine and joy,” said one user.

Another added: “You’re like the sun. You bring light into people’s lives. “Literally my life’s goal. Thank you my best friend for noticing.”

“My daughter told me last week that she was proud of me. It wasn’t something I heard much as I was growing up. Not only have I accomplished something in my new career (Act 2, which I started at age 43), but I’ve raised enough people in my life who have heard enough pride and compliments that I’ve raised them to want to pass that on to others,” said another.

Another mother said, “My son’s pediatrician said it was obvious that I was doing a great job as a mother because he was such a good kid and so respectful. I cried.”

There are also compliments people have shared that center around their parenting abilities.

“My ex-best friend used to say to me on a regular basis, ‘I love your relationship with your children. You’re such an amazing mother,’ and that stuck with me because it’s one of the things I’m most proud of. My relationships with my teenage children are amazing. Who they are as people is my greatest accomplishment,” another woman said.

One user said, “My son’s ELP teacher looked at me during PTC class and said, “If you write a book about parenting, I want to read it.”

“A stranger saw me struggling with my kids at a school event and looked at me and said, ‘Mom, you’re doing a great job.’ It’s so simple, but it meant the world. Toddlers are hard,” another shared.

One simply wrote, “‘I couldn’t have done it without you.'” I’m a labor and delivery nurse. I’ve heard it many times over the years and it always resonates with me. ”

Some compliments don’t require words, like this user did. “This morning, as I cleaned up and put my stroke patient to bed, she reached over and gave me a hug and kissed my hand… She didn’t have words, but her compliments spoke volumes .”

One man said, “When I was 16, my grandma told me she liked my hair at the bus stop. I’ve had the same hairstyle ever since. Women would be surprised how much a simple compliment can mean to a man.”
