If there’s a theme to this week’s confessions, it’s probably that mothers can only keep it up for so long.
Mothers shared truths that aren’t always talked about in group chats or over coffee with friends. A marriage that is quietly falling apart. Guilt that comes from wanting more or feeling tired. A feeling of loneliness that remains even when surrounded by loved ones. Anxiety, heartbreak, financial stress, infertility treatments, impossible decisions, and the complex emotions that come with trying to keep it all together.
Because the hardest thing to admit out loud are the ones that don’t have easy answers: the complex feelings you tell yourself you shouldn’t have because they’re “wrong” or “scary.” But that’s the beauty of Scary Mommy Confessions. They make space for thoughts often left unsaid and remind us that the overwhelming parts of motherhood don’t erase the rest of us. Rather, these confessions remind us that we are not as alone as we think, and quite literally. everyone I’m getting over it.
