There is no doubt that the rapid growth of artificial intelligence will significantly change the career landscape for our children as they head into the “real world.” Unfortunately, as AI continues to advance, many of the entry-level jobs that have existed or still exist will be eliminated. So what does that mean for our children and their future career ambitions? One father has broken down some careers that we can encourage our children to ‘actually matter’ in the future.
According to Andrew Tiu, the real divide for future working children is not about hard work or good grades, as we were brought up to believe. There will be a battle between those who guide the AI and those who are forced to compete with it.
So which careers are on the “right side” of this new future?
medical worker
“We’re talking about doctors, nurses, specialists,” Tiu said.
“Artificial intelligence can help with diagnosis, but it cannot replace trust, ethics, and real, hands-on care. Healthcare always requires human judgment when lives are at stake.”
skilled craftsman
AI cannot replace the jobs of electricians, HVAC professionals, and welders. “AI can automate software, but it cannot wire buildings, repair power grids, or repair real-world systems,” Tiu says.
“Skilled tradespeople face significant talent shortages and rising wages, especially as infrastructure modernization begins. These roles solve physical problems that AI cannot address.”
AI engineers and machine learning builders
While AI will not progress, we will still need humans to train and work on the programs that AI is designed to do.
“AI cannot replace the people who built it unless the entire plan is fully built. terminator I’ll come back to life,” Tiu joked.
“But these roles are to design, train, and control the systems that everyone else uses. And if our kids are lucky enough to grow up and get jobs in this field, that’s going to be great, because they’re helping shape the AI. If they’re not competing with the AI, they’re going to be directing it.”
Cybersecurity and digital defense specialist
Tiu predicts that as AI becomes more powerful, (cyber)attacks will become more sophisticated and more frequent. For this reason, cybersecurity requires humans to assist with digital defenses.
“This is one of the fastest-growing and highest-paying fields our kids can potentially get into, because failure is very expensive here,” he says.
entrepreneurs and business builders
This career bucket will inevitably be closely related to AI.
Tiu said, “At first glance, that doesn’t seem like something that should be included here, because if you’re an entrepreneur, you’re just selling online courses, right? Invest in yourself. This is the real deal, okay?”
“Artificial intelligence has and will continue to dramatically lower the cost of starting a business. This means that creatively inclined kids with great ideas, initiative, and leadership potential can create real products faster than ever before. And they’re starting to build things that can solve problems that maybe we don’t have either. Kids who step into those entrepreneurial roles aren’t going to compete with AI, right? They’re just going to use it as a multiplier.
Ultimately, Tiu believes that future workers who want to find secure and lucrative careers will collaborate with AI by teaching it, leveraging it, and performing tasks that AI cannot replace.
Several parents commented on the video with their thoughts on their careers and concerns about what the future holds for their children.
One user said: “I’m worried that our kids are being prepared for a future that no longer exists. Oh my god, the future we thought existed doesn’t feel like it exists anymore.”
“What about lawyers?” one user asked. “What about finance? You don’t mention anything about that.” Another user wondered.
Others wondered if Tiu was underestimating the capabilities of artificial intelligence. This suggests that some of the career buckets Tiu mentioned in the video may actually be taken over by robots and rapidly growing technologies.
We may not know exactly what the future workforce will look like for our children, but as parents we should know which jobs will be the most difficult to replace by AI.
