It’s no secret that baby names inspired by the past are becoming increasingly popular. But while we love “old lady” names, ultra-traditional boy names, and literary names, it’s time to start thinking about retro names to bring back to your baby.
I know, I know, but we can all agree that “retro” is different from “vintage.” Vintage baby names may bring to mind picnics, tea parties, and secret gardens, while retro baby names bring to mind roller skates, feathered hair, and rock ‘n’ roll. The word retro conjures up images of the ’70s and ’80s, but let’s be honest: That decade had some pretty epic baby names.
And we’re not talking about names like Jessica or Ashley (although those are totally fine too). Let’s dive deeper. Name your baby boy Gregory and Heath, and your baby girl Nancy and Melanie. Some of these names are already starting to gain popularity on the Social Security Administration’s latest charts, and there are also some retro baby names that we’re hoping will become the norm again. Is it because the baby is named Dennis or Marcia? There is nothing more comforting than that.
No matter how retro you want your name to be, there are plenty of baby names waiting to come back in popularity.
